Collection: Celler Frisch
Francesc and Joan are two brothers whose passion for winemaking ignited early on – probably not entirely by chance, as their hometown of Corbera d'Ebre is surrounded by old vines and steeped in the region's history, particularly the Battle of the Ebro during the Spanish Civil War. In 2009, they finally founded their own winery: Celler Frisach.
The two brothers maintain a close connection to their land, which is clearly reflected in the style of their wines. They combine traditional approaches with curiosity and the courage to explore new paths. Experimentation begins in the vineyard: for L'Abrunet Blanc, for example, two harvests are chosen – the first early to capture freshness and acidity, the second later when the grapes have more ripeness and structure. The two batches are then blended to create a complex profile. The vineyards – approximately 40 hectares in size – consist predominantly of indigenous Garnacha varieties such as Vernatxa blanca, Vernatxa gris, Vernatxa fina, Cariñena, and Garnacha Peluda. International varieties like Merlot, Syrah, and Tempranillo are also cultivated. The vines are not planted in monoculture but share the space with olive, almond, and apple trees. Cultivation is organic, following biodynamic principles and employing minimal intervention.
Each year, around 55,000 bottles are handcrafted, embodying the vibrant, natural character of the terroir. The brothers themselves poetically describe their roles: one is firmly grounded, deeply rooted – the other is the dreamer, curious, with his head in the clouds. Together, they form a strong team, enriching the world of wine with passion and conviction.
