Collection: Piri Naturel

Piri Naturel winery, managed by Christine Pieroth, is located in the picturesque Trollbach Valley in Burg Layen, Nahe, Germany. The winery, whose origins date back to 1781, is now run by Christine, a young winemaker representing the eighth generation of her family to do so. With a clear focus on the production of natural wines, Piri combines tradition with an innovative, sustainable approach to viticulture. The Nahe region, known for its remarkable diversity of soils, provides a perfect environment for cultivating characterful, mineral-driven wines. Here, slate, gravel, and clay soils alternate within a small area, shaping the wines' flavor and expression.

Christine Pieroth, who completed a traditional winemaking apprenticeship and studied viticulture in Geisenheim, brings diverse experience from positions both in Germany and abroad, including in Canada, where she also worked with organic farming. This international perspective informs her work and enriches Piri Naturel's approach, which is characterized by a holistic and sustainable methodology. Christine's wines ferment exclusively with the natural yeasts from the vineyards and mature for extended periods on their lees, resulting in individual and age-worthy wines that reflect the character of each vintage.

The winery's 14 hectares of vineyards extend across renowned steep slopes such as Goldloch, Pittermännchen, and Burgberg. The estate cultivates a wide range of grape varieties, with a focus on Riesling, which develops an impressive diversity of aromas in the different soils. In addition to Riesling, the vineyards also cultivate Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, and Silvaner. This diversity allows Christine to produce wines with depth and structure that are simultaneously fresh and straightforward.

Christine Pieroth's philosophy is that wine is a natural product that must be harvested and interpreted anew each year – a credo she puts into practice with great dedication and a spirit of experimentation. Beyond winemaking, she is committed to self-sufficiency, keeping bees and cultivating fruits and vegetables. She designs her own wine labels, using images of plants from her colorful, biodiverse vineyards. The Piri Naturel winery thus represents a vibrant, sustainable wine culture that unites enjoyment, a connection to nature, and innovation.
