On the picturesque shores of Lake Neusiedl in Austria, nestled between warm breezes and historically rich soils, Maria and Alex Koppitsch live and work with great dedication to what they love: honest, natural wine. Their winery is situated in a region with over 500 years of winemaking tradition – yet Maria and Alex forge their own path.
Since 2011, the two have been running the family winery, which they manage with great passion and biodynamic sensitivity. Their vines grow on approximately five hectares of sand, loam, gravel, and clay – a soil mix that lends depth and character to the wines. They cultivate a wide variety of grape varieties – 11 varieties across 19 parcels – each one treated with respect and care.
The philosophy is clear: less is more. The wines are made without artificial additives – no fining, no filtration, no excessive technology. Instead: patience, nature, and trust. Alex focuses intensely on the work in the vineyard, while Maria is the public face – she brings the stories behind the wines to the world.
For the Koppitsch family, sustainability doesn't end in the vineyard: they also pay attention to environmental friendliness in their bottle design – lightweight glass, only one label, and fired rather than printed corks. Their wines bear names like "HOMOK", "ROZSA", or "ABENDROT" – playful, but with soul.
What makes their wines special is not just the taste, but the attitude behind them: grounded, conscious, and full of life. Opening a bottle of Koppitsch is more than just wine – it's the energy of a young couple who want to make a difference with their work. And that makes every sip special.
